"Fantasy Warriors" hits the table: part two.

Today I got back to my game of "Fantasy Warriors" so without further ado...

After advancing aggressively the Orc archers are wiped out by the steady volleys of crossbow bolts from the Dwarves.

On the far flank the Trolls led by their Barbarian Battle Leader crash into the Human Foot Knights.

And a Dwarf Battle Leader may be in trouble.

Confrontation!.

An Orc Battle Leader and one of his units flee the field causing all the other leaders to test their mettle.

With some deft axe fighting the Dwarf Battle Leader fells the Troll.

The Foot Knights are destroyed and their Battle Leader killed, they kill one Troll but the demise of the Battle Leader causes disorder among the Dwarf ranks.

The Orc War Chief changes orders to Attack and his spearmen charge into the Dwarf Axemen.

More Orcs charge into the disordered spearmen.

The Troll slayer meets his doom!.

Fierce fighting against the Dwarf Axemen sends these Orcs into Bloodlust, which means they will fight even harder.

The disordered Dwarf spearmen are struggling and are soon beset from three sides and eventually defeated.

The Dwarf War Chief has joined in the fighting but eventually falls, the last Dwarf battle Leader quits the field and victory goes to the Orcs despite the daylight hurting their little eyes.

A canny game, I did a few things wrong rules wise but nothing too drastic. I need to learn how to use the orders system better though as once an order is given it is not easy to change it. I probably need to invest in some Courier models.

With hindsight I should have given the Dwarf crossbow command an Oppose order and the Humans and Axemen Hold orders instead of the other way around. But that is the game, commands are only allowed to operate within their orders... serious stuff!.

"Fantasy Warriors" hits the table.

I got the new toys into action, I skipped the scouting, omens and boasting phases so I could get going quickly. I haven't totted up the points as I'm not a fan of equal points value games so I don't know how balanced the forces are, time will tell.

The armies deploy.

The time is diced for and comes up as dawn, the Orcs and Trolls dislike daylight while the Dwarves are unaffected by day or night.

The Orc wizard spends almost all of his magic to extend the night and delays the dawn as long as he can. As you can see my computer garbles colours a bit when I print things.

The Orcs get moving, the red flag is an Attack order.

These Orcs threaten the Dwarves who become Shaken and Disordered mainly because the Orcs have a Hero in their ranks.

The Orcs then charge home but lose the fight and become Shaken and Disordered too!.

The Trolls then crash into the Dwarf axemen and annihilate them for the loss of one Troll.

It's getting late so I'll have to get back to the game tomorrow, TTFN.

Little Green Men finished!.

Despite a  short delay due to a back injury ( I'm going to burn that blummin' Kama Sutra) I managed to finish off my little Orc army for "Fantasy Warriors"

I laid them out on the table in front of the Dwarves for a few photos.

I really enjoyed painting these little beggars.

To make leaders for the archers I just added a shield and a fancier bow.

I copied the bad moon image off the internet and made it into a flag.

Wolf Riders.

A bunch of Trolls may give the army some more hitting power.

And a catapult may add to the fun.

I had a lot of fun chopping bits off and gluing bits on from the spares box.

I didn't know what to use to make a musician and found it very amusing to stick a muckle big bell in his hand. I must get out more!.

I repainted my 1/72 scale Dark Alliance trolls with grey skin instead of the European skin colours and I think they look better.

The wee Dwarves better look out!.

The Dwarf Chieftain points the way to battle.

What an enjoyable project, not too ambitious and a lot of fun converting the figures. The models are mainly em4 with some Oathmark plastics for characters, Perry foot knights, Dark Alliance Trolls and a WizKids pre primed catapult.

Hopefully I'll get them into action in the next few days, bad back permitting.

Fantasy Warriors: Dwarves painted.

I managed to get all of my little Dwarf army finished tonight so I hoyed them on the table and took a few photos.

A unit of spearmen, I converted the standard bearer and gave the leader some horns on his helmet.

A unit of eight axemen with some easy conversions, hammerheads and bits from my bits box.

More axemen, I like the sheep horns on the leaders helmet.

The crossbow leaders got a white plume to differentiate them from the rank and file.

Human allies, Perry foot knights.

The Dwarf General and his bannerman.

Before my order from em4 arrived I painted these Oathmark Goblin wolf riders as Orc wolf riders.

Next up for painting are my em4 Orcs, I had a lot of fun adding bits and pieces to make musicians and standard bearers and officers. I am really looking forward to painting them.
