The next campaigning season sees the Shemite General Kumbaniash and his army heading north and invading Ophir. A great battle takes place on the plains of Ianthe.
The Shemites have a Kothian contingent led by Prince Moranthes with 2 Heavy Chariots and 1 Heavy Cavalry deployed on the far left flank. The Shemite main body consists of 2 Heavy Chariots, 2 Medium Cavalry, 4 Heavy Infantry and 4 Light Bows.
The Ophirean army has 1 Heavy Chariots, 1 Heavy Cavalry, 4 Medium Cavalry, 4 Heavy Infantry, 1 Elephants and 1 unit of Auxiliaries.
Moranthes is keen to prove himself.
After a tremendous battle his chariots are destroyed but the Ophirean right is smashed.
The Shemite right defeats the Ophirean left. Although Kumbaniash barely survives an elephant attack!.
The heavy infantry clash in the centre and the Shemites are victorious.
Shem wins the battle five banners to two.
Ophir are now tributary to Shem too, Shem may only choose one allied contingent from one tributary in future wars.
The three unit allied rule is not a guaranteed victory, in test games I found a twelve unit army can defeat a fifteen unit army.
Shem is on a roll!
ReplyDeleteYou had better build up a competing power bloc in another part of the continent!

Argos is getting twitchy and eve Aquilonia is keeping an eye.
DeleteAh! There is no Vendhya to keep Shem dow-- ... erm ... honest!
ReplyDeleteAye, you're right I couldn't fit Vendhya on my map, but there are plenty of powerful neighbours in the region concerned about the Shemite's expansionism.
DeleteThe Shemites themselves are not the most united of peoples and squabbles between the city-states are common. Who knows how the dice will fall?.
